NASA Moving Toward Tuesday Launch Attempt for Shuttle Discovery

“With some work still to go, NASA is moving toward a new launch attempt for the Space Shuttle Discovery Tuesday, July 26, at 10:39 a.m. EDT. Engineers are wrapping up a troubleshooting plan to address a fuel sensor system issue that caused Space Shuttle managers to scrub the first launch attempt for the Return to Flight mission, STS-114.”

Editor’s note: NASA has set next Tuesday, 26 July as the next launch attempt for STS-114. Launch is planned for 10:39 am EDT. No fueling test will be performed. The cause of the sensor anomaly seems to be a grounding issue. An attempt will be made on 26 July. If that does not happen another can be made on 27 July. If that does not happen, the next attempt would be on 29 July. If that is missed, then 31 July is available. There is also a possibility of launching between 1-4 August as well – although lighting for photography will start to degrade.
