NASA Unveils Latest Results From Lunar Mission, Helps Prepare for Next Stage of Scientific Discovery

"NASA's current mission in orbit around the moon, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO, has been providing crucial insights about our nearest celestial neighbor since its launch in June. At a scientific meeting today, researchers unveiled the latest findings from three instruments of the powerful suite of seven aboard the satellite. LRO is expected to return more data about the moon than all previous orbital missions combined."

More than any other mission eh? I Guess they just wont be releasing it :( Seeing as how we are officially down to 1 raw data strip per month from the LRO team. When they are receiving over 400 gb a day.ridiculous.

Not ridiculous. The team obviously laid out the collating and formatting schedule long before launch. You could have had programmers arrange to do this on the fly in real time. But that's a heck of a way to make a living!

Uh dude this isn't your grandmas 1960's era space probe , please tell me that was sarcasm. The DATA arrives digital already that's the point of having a CCD driven LROC camera. And I noticed something else, now to throw the tax payer the virtual bone and release a raw NAC image strip from before it was in its commissioning km orbit? Hey LROC team I know the difference, I don't want to see 6 month old raw NAC strips. The question is why,why why why. I've written emails to the entire LROC univ of ar. team no response. I wasn't truculent nor was I terse. I simply ask why the data wasn't being release? My response ? nothing,Nada, zilch no response 15 different emails and not one reply..So I write my congressman, he does respond with some generic response letter stamped with his signature. Letter writing campaigns just are what they used to be.
