Marc's note: After all these years Spirit keeps on giving. Good news in an otherwise difficult time for NASA.


It's time for some justified criticism.
Spirit has been stuck in the soil for about ten months (according to NASA). The managers spent two months trying to get the rover out. When Spirit finally made some little progress by driving backwards then... sorry, too late.
Why did they spend so much time planning and doing tests on Earth instead of actually trying to get the rover out?
