True American Hero Neil Armstrong Honored by Clear Channel Outdoor on Digital Billboards
“Starting today, Clear Channel Outdoor will honor one of our nation’s greatest heroes and a man who lived a humble, yet heroic life, with a memorial on every one of the company’s 963 digital billboards in 37 different metropolitan areas – including Columbus and Cleveland in Mr. Armstrong’s home state of Ohio. Neil Armstrong passed away on Saturday at his home in Cincinnati, Ohio. The memorial honors him using his most famous quote when he first stepped onto the moon; “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” The memorial makes one small edit to honor Mr. Armstrong, “That’s one small step for a hero, one giant leap for mankind.”

Clint Eastwood bought the rights to the Armstrong Biography “First Man” back in 2003.  John Young’s Biography is coming out September 16.

That would be a fun one.  As much as Neil is a hero, John Young has had an amazing life flying hardware!

I wonder how true the story is that they purposefully did not put enough fuel in the descent stage of Apollo ten LM to let John “accidentally” land.

I get the impression John Young is a real character, maverick personality, where as Armstrong was more of a stereotypical engineer, introverted, “ice commander”. It might be difficult to make a film about Armstrong for that reason.

Yeah but there are plenty of exciting things, doesn’t matter. Make one for each. Make them good. Doesn’t matter how long. I’ll buy it.

Darn friend has borrowed my “When We Left Earth” Blurays and still has them. You could tell John Young was a character with his interviews in that.

I Think hollywood should do a movie on Mr. Armstrongs life right away!
Like that book on Robert Goddard that caught me. Do all the things about his boyhood and all the stuff about the person. and go light on the moon landing.

The History Channel has been showing some Armstrong stuff.  Unfortunately, my cable company’s viewing guide has not kept up with the suddenly reshuffled programming, so it’s hit and miss.

Lots of wonderful ideas are surfacing.  I just hope that people announcing these things hold off for a little while so that he family doesn’t feel like it’s being turned into a circus.

I can’t imagine what the family must be feeling. I may have worked with his son Mark a while back, I don’t know for sure since I never asked him about his father, but I was told he was. I hope he’s ok.
