Photo: President Obama Winks at The Moon – For Neil Armstrong
“Neil’s spirit of discovery lives on in all the men and women who have devoted their lives to exploring the unknown–including those who are ensuring that we reach higher and go further in space. That legacy will endure–sparked by a man who taught us the enormous power of one small step.”
Keith’s note: I have been informed that this photo was taken several months ago. It was posted on this Tumblr page the other day with the quote from the President referencing Neil Armstrong’s passing. I apologize for the incorrect description.

While China, Japan, India and others plan to send humans to the moon, the Obama Administration cancelled US plans to go there.  Ironic, that Obama is winking at the Moon…

Politicizing the issue is unrealistic, because Mr. Romney has shown no inclination to support such a massive endeavor, and counterproductive because it makes it impossible for people of different parties to work together to build support for policies they both support.

moreover, none of those countries has current plans or resources for human lunar flight with current technology. China, given the choice, would prefer a collaborative program with the US and has nothing to gain from a space race.

Whatever Obamas reason to take the picture. I think the point the moon has now become a monument to the man as well as the sixties NASA effort is a good one.

The president of the most powerful country on Earth is looking up to the natural monument of what the man and our country did through the hard working heroes of sixties NASA.

I like the picture and you should be proud of it
