What is a Shuttle flight without a delay?  At least there aren’t 7 astronauts on their backs having to urinate real bad.

I’ve been trying like hell to get real information about seeing the shuttle-747 combo on the ground in So.Cal before they are demated.  There appears to be no chance to see it up close when it is at LAX and NASA Dryden is not allowing the public to come in and see it.  Also, nobody has published the exact air route over LA so I can be sure to get in a good position to see it.  Oddly, while Dryden is staying silent and keeping the public out, Ames is inviting the public to a festival, complete with food trucks, distinguished speakers, etc..

I guess I’m supposed to take my chances and see it from several miles away if I look up at just the right minute.  Or go up to Ames?

Dryden is having a social media event allowing people on site, and a family day allowing employees to bring people on site.  Since Dryden is on an Air Force base and out in the middle of nowhere it’s not accessible to the public like Ames is.

Griffith Observatory in LA (next to another landmark, the Hollywood sign) can be recommended as a viewing spot, and provides a panoramic view over downtown and if the weather is clear enough, all the way to LAX.
