    NASA is operating under a CR, so the Education account should have the same amount of money as last year’s appropriation, minus planning for sequester.

      For the science divisions such as astrophysics (which Hertz heads), the education funding isn’t a separate line item. Missions were asked earlier this year to prepare budgets with a $0 education line. As FY14 began, missions were asked to find money elsewhere in their budgets to cover the missing education money – or justify cuts to their education work.

      It was up to each division to distribute the sequestration cuts as they saw fit…
