And so well deserved. She did great work for NASA and great work after leaving. I’m rereading her 1987 report to the NASA administrator. I have not found the video yet to the ceremony but I took a moment to see last year’s.

This year is the 50th anniversary of this award; created by JFK in 1963. Last year, our Glenn was honored, Bob Dylan, John Doar, Madaleine Albright, Toni Morrison and many others. All inspirational.

I did watch the presantation in its entirety, seeing Sally Rides lover was very moving
I looked into her eyes and facial expression, is this her first time comming out?
If so she and the president chose such a maginifent place to appear at the same time nervous and proud…………..

“Is this her first time coming out?”

      Does it matter?

It does matter! the world is full of haters and if this ceremony provided her with the honor of showing the world that she and her lover mattered.pehaps they and we cared about girls in science,
It does matter in the manner that she in memory of her lover appeared with my commander in chief to so honer her love for the deceased.
