Russia to train Iranian cosmonauts, build recon sats – report, Russia Today
“Russia and Iran have reportedly signed a secret deal on wide cooperation in space exploration, ranging from training Iranian cosmonauts in Russia to possible production of Earth observation and telecommunication satellites for Iran. … Ironically, if Russia does train Iranians to go to space, it would be done at the same site where NASA astronauts are trained before taking a trip to the International Space Station in a Russian Soyuz spacecraft, the newspaper notes. Putting Iranians and Americans with access to sensitive information in the same room could be a security challenge.”

He’s looking for new ways to piss off his partners. Quite creative really.

Relentless this man is. We all talk about Republican “narrative” or Obama “narrative” yet nothing in the output from either side is on message every time. The Putin narrative is this: consistently implement ideas that will show soviet union undaunted by the west. Not really challenging to do as the west has not stomach for a confrontation In doing so, it increases the pride in his people. That way, he can justify the draconian internal actions he takes (and their consequences) to a now “very proud” population. Well played Mr. Putin. as MS states “quite creative really.”

It might be more productive if we simply recognized that not he latest round (Crimea/Ukraine), we lost. He won. Move on.

Steve Jobs pioneered the strategy years ago.

I wonder if this is in “retaliation” for Biden Jr. being appointed to that Ukrainian oil company

Looks like Putin is forging a Pax Russica, with whomever and whatever. It’s all well and dandy to have the Fox News bluster but the Russians will be serious rivals to the U.S. in spaceflight, post ISS. Congress dropped the ball straight into Vladimir’s hands and in space no-one can hear you scream.
