Mike Alsbury Memorial Fund Over $100,000
Mike Alsbury Memorial Fund
“This fundraiser is being managed by Mike’s friends and co-workers at Scaled Composites. This is the official site to help Mike’s family with future expenses and all donations will go to Mike’s wife, Michelle. Michael (Mike) Alsbury, Test Pilot and Project Engineer for Scaled Composites, passed away on October 31, 2014 due to an anomaly during flight test. Mike was a husband, a father of two small children (ages 10 and 7), amazing friend and co-worker. Mike had worked with Scaled for over 15 years. This is a tragic loss that will leave a void in Mike’s family, the Scaled family, and the surrounding community for years to come. We would like to do anything we can to support Michelle and his two children.”
It would seem that @XCOR made a $1,000 donation that pushed Mike Alsbury Memorial Fund over $100K http://t.co/Bzd2pF88Xe #classact

Stunning. One would suppose that Sir Virgin would take care of this family.
Why?
He is just the employee of an employer, no different than your job or mine.
My company is worth hundreds of millions, but I don’t expect a dime of that to head to my family if something happens to me at work.
That’s what life ins, AD&D and workers comp is for.
Then why do they have to set up a fund?
Friends and co workers have set up the fund–Why?
Because its what people do these days.
Virgin Galactic just donated $10,000
XCOR made the $1,000 donation that pushed the total over $100,000
Been thinking about your point- and I can’t find a reason to disagree.
Still, something’s wrong and it still pisses me off.
We do not know what his family’s personal finances are. Not sure its any of our business to pry. All we know about is this fund.
Actual he didn’t work for Virgin Galactic. He worked for Scaled Composites. They subcontract to VG.
RIP
I hope it helps with his babies’ education.
