Astronaut Salutes Leonard Nimoy From Orbit
“International Space Station astronaut Terry Virts (@AstroTerry) tweeted this image of a Vulcan hand salute from orbit as a tribute to actor Leonard Nimoy, who died on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015.”
Statement by NASA Admimistrator Bolden on the Passing of Leonard Nimoy
“Leonard Nimoy was an inspiration to multiple generations of engineers, scientists, astronauts, and other space explorers. As Mr. Spock, he made science and technology important to the story, while never failing to show, by example, that it is the people around us who matter most. NASA was fortunate to have him as a friend and a colleague.”
Statement by the President on the Passing of Leonard Nimoy
“I loved Spock. In 2007, I had the chance to meet Leonard in person. It was only logical to greet him with the Vulcan salute, the universal sign for “Live long and prosper.” And after 83 years on this planet – and on his visits to many others – it’s clear Leonard Nimoy did just that.”

Altho he was permanently typecast as Spock, he was active in many fields, including stage, film, and TV performance, poetry, directing, music, photography, and a strong active member of his religious community,

He explains the source of LLAP (Live Long and Prosper) in a 2013 interview. The Yiddish parts are subtitled.

When I was a kid, I got teased a lot for being the smart kid in the neighborhood. Mr. Spock made it cool…

In one interview Nimoy lamented his type casting, pointing out that there weren’t many roles for someone with pointed ears. “Why”, my son asked, “couldn’t he just get plastic surgery?”

Wasn’t one of the lessons of Star Trek, If you really want to explore space, you need an on orbit reusable spaceship? Hard to believe, after all these years Mr. Nemoy never got to see a REAL spaceship.

I wonder if I ever will??

Maybe part of Musks MCT will include a real spaceships

    We can only hope!

The MCT paint job looks beautiful Mr. Squared 🙂

    Beam me up Mr. Spock
