Sharks In Space
Keith’s note: If you watched Sharknado 3 on SyFy tonight then you know that a substantial portion of the film was shot at JSC and KSC. Yes, the movie was utterly stupid (that was the whole point of the movie) but NASA allowed itself to be part of something outside its usual stodgy comfort zone. You may argue whether or not this is the best use of NASA facilities. I look at it this way: last week NASA owned the Internet during the Pluto Flyby. Tonight they were an integral part of an event that owned Twitter and other social media platforms. Not bad.

Loved the cameo by Bobak Ferdowsi, Mowhawk guy from JPL Mars Rover mission ops fame!
Go JPL!
Go NASA!
Go Sharknado!
What an AWESOME movie. So bad it was good. And NASA, with a little help from Reagan’s SDI, was the savior!
Nasa can somehow be part of Sharknado, but actively suppresses efforts like Red Bull Stratos.
What did NASA do to “actively suppress” Red Bull Stratos?
I do not know what he is talking about either.
Yes, didn’t you just love one of Bum’s statements regarding the Curiosity rover: “That is tax money,” Mr Baumgartner, 43, added. “People should decide ‘are you willing to spend all this money to go to Mars?’ I think the average person on the ground would never spend that amount of money – they have to spend it on something that makes sense and this is definitely saving our planet.”
When they found out about our program certain people at NASA contacted critical suppliers and implied that cooperating with us would damage the suppliers relationship with the agency. It caused a significant delay and extra expenses to the project.

No need to yell… I was there when it happened. I had signed purchase agreements that would not be honored. That’s my citation. It cost us an extra year to make a work around. It just makes me frustrated that NASA loves to cooperate with crappy fake things like Sharknado, but won’t cooperate with people doing actual stuff if a small number of individuals there somehow disapprove of it. People in “New Space” should recognize that some critical suppliers have never had any customers besides NASA and that this is something that can happen.
Some of the NASA footage looked like clever use of photographs.
Anyway, sharks in space were cool but for me the best part was getting to hear Malcolm in the Middle say “Sharkicane.”
I am pretty certain that none of the sharks were real – and that none of them actually worked at NASA.
I thought the shark home was in Washington DC and that also happened to be where the sharks hunted NASA people.
None of them worked at NASA THIS time. They’ve already announced Sharknado 4: http://news.discovery.com/s…
