Well Elon originally visited Russia trying to buy a rocket and got knocked back. But does seem like he kept his eyes open and picked up useful tips such as starting with an over-engineered design and evolving it; horizontal integration and now, by golly gosh, landing on platforms at sea.
    Who woodah thought 🙂
    Cheers

This is not from Soviet SC FI movie instead is from Italian SC FI movie Battle Beyond The Sun 1962 . You can find it on youtubecom SC FI section and I watch movie 2 month ago. That’s why I remember seeing it before want to counter so call claim being Soviet era not true at all. About competition North hemisphere vs South hemisphere of Earth race to who get to Mars first and rocket landed on man made island of solid granite rock not a barge.

Roger Corman and Francis Ford Coppola simply re-edited the movie almost 3 years after it’s initial release. Btw, the video on youtube is ripped from the German DVD release (using the Russian language track), hence the German titles in the beginning. The theatrical release in Germany was in 1960, another 2 years before the release of “Battle beyond the Sun”.

Huh.. with that 4K video, I didn’t realize that when the booster landed, it actually lifted up a little and walked the deck.. I wonder how much of that off-center was due to that bunny hop.
