One has to wonder how much of their time will be about space and how much about gun control…

      They are both important issues.

It appears to be more important than space policy (where lunar first has compromised every piece of a cost effective architecture)..or how gerrymandered districts are not mentioned along with ‘the system is rigged’. Or if nations have to pay for their security….or who pays to train the police to distinguish in a split second good from bad…shift funding from NASA?… Smart phones yet “Smart-gun technology is not new, yet these guns are not mass-produced or sold in the U.S., partly due to fears they are a backdoor to greater gun control”.

Rocket launches are regulated. Regulations make things safe. “The National Firearms Act, passed in 1934, said if you want to own a machine gun or any of these other listed types of weapons of war, you have to register both the person who’s selling it, the person who’s buying it. You have to pay a special tax. And you go through an intense law enforcement check – provide photographs, fingerprints, approval of your local sheriff or police chief, who says, no, this person’s not known to me to be bad.” “Did it work” “Quite well” Intrusion on privacy?

I wonder as well, but could we please stop with wondering?

Gun control is one of the issues which is almost guaranteed to produce very strong, hostile, and (for a spaceflight forum) off-topic debates. Let’s not go there, regardless of your views on the subject or how strongly you feel about it.

Likely to be primarily about gun control – but Gabby is a former Congresswoman and and Mark has been extremely political, outspoken and active. They are obviously endorsing Hillary and not afraid to say it. It was almost hard to watch Eileen awkwardly try to say the U.S. doesn’t have the best space program in the world, at the Republican National Convention, while trying not to have it be an endorsement. Ms. Collins was an excellent pilot and Shuttle commander – I don’t recommend a political or policy career.

Gosh, where’s the rabid critique calling for non-partisanship of our astronauts (like with Eileen Collins a few days ago) ? Oh wait, look, ALL the critique of Collins at the convention in Cleveland has been deleted! Guess what was bad enough for the Republicans is suddenly good enough for the democrat fan base…now that the DNC cynically adds in a “me too” component to their agenda.

Stop arm waving. Criticism of what she said is still online. Posts that have been deleted were either totally off topic or involved personal attacks. If you continue to try and fan the flames and start arguments your comments will be deleted and you will be banned without further warning.
