Buuut… NASA must help provide the goals, leadership and support, Private industry will provide the vehicles and services much more economically then the government could or should. Me thinks Newt is talking the VP into setting the goal of a Lunar Manned Outpost, of at least six on the Lunar South Pole, Blue Moon will support it, and Elon can act butt-hurt all he wants and drop out of token advisory commissions because of Paris, but me thinks his ego will not allow, (nor will his backers) Jeff Bezo’s to snatch up all the Lunar Resupply/Support/Service Contracts. What’s a better business model Elon? Focus on Mars by yourself, or finance your ride to Mars via the Moon? TIme will tell.

Hard to tell what they are pushing for – one thing is for certain: no NASA budget increases.
In that case a critical issue is the degree of commitment to devoting a large share of the budget to the program that cannot be named.
