Light Posting This Week
Keith’s note: Posting on NASAWatch will be rather light this week. I am taking a few days off. Among other things I will be getting a close-up look at the recently restored portrait of my great9 grandmother at the Yale Center for British Art.
Keith’s update: Here are some pictures of me and my great^9 grandmother at Yale today.
Have a safe trip.
Enjoy some peace and quiet! (Though her era and life were far from such.)
Yea it was rather … bloody.
Wait a second. Your great(9) grandmother was Scarlett Johanson’s daughter? Or was that Natascha McElhone? Either way that’s a pretty cool connection to history. Have fun.
As I get older, my own interest in ancestors grows. At the same time, my confidence in younger people becomes shakier, something that occurred to me when reading Keith’s post about thew new Administrator.
My problem is seeing press reports quoting people I knew in graduate school. If you remember what someone was like at twenty five, when you them referred to as a “respected senior scientist” it’s hard to keep a straight face. Or hearing current graduate students very respectfully talking about “Dr.” so-and-so, in a way which implies that the person is a great and infallible authority. Of course, they probably feel the same way about me.
With the forbearance of our genial host, I’d point out that NASA launched another TDRS satellite – this one called “M”. Good to know that someone is looking after infrastructure, which comes in many forms, not all fashioned from concrete.
I do know that some larger fixed dishes need upgrading/replacement/repair as well.
