Keith’s note: What is really strange is the fact that NASA gives free promotion/advertising to its contractors yet Congress prohibits NASA from advertising about itself.

I would think this is illegal if it costs taxpayers anything. In fact it might be illegal if it costs nothing; except in special circumstance like for military recruits, the Federal Government is usually not allowed to advertise. In the past NASA’s contractors have advertised their support of NASA’s work and the space program. I did not think NASA was allowed to advertise at all. NASA can create information and it can educate people.

I don’t like it, but I have great faith in lawyers. A good one could convincingly say NASA is educating and informing the public about how and where ISS funds are spent. That’s a bit dodgy, but that’s probably enough to keep people out of jail…

I’ve driven by L3 Communications in Mason Ohio many times. So, I guess I’m supposed to support the SLS/Orion pork since it’s benefiting the “local community”, right? That seems to be NASA’s goal here is to let everyone know how the pork benefits their local community.

Gotta “Keep It Sold”. What better way then to remind everyone (especially congress people) that there are jobs in their state as a direct beneficiary?
