“The following is a statement from acting NASA Administrator Robert Lightfoot on Wednesday’s announcement of the intended nomination by President Donald Trump of Jeffrey DeWit to serve as the agency’s Chief Financial Officer: “It is encouraging to see more members of the agency’s leadership team being named. Jeff’s solid financial background will be a tremendous addition as we continue to advance our nation’s aeronautic and exploration initiatives.”
The screaming you hear echoing around Washington is from his first look at how NASA spends money like its water 🙂
Really it will be interesting given his cost cutting background to see his reaction to how NASA spends.
Well, I guess I don’t understand this. We’ve got Senators blocking the confirmation of the Administrator. It really looks like that’s over his (un)willingness to drop the right amount of money into the right states and congressional districts. But if that’s the case, why aren’t they equally opposed to a NASA CFO who would be very hard nosed about irresponsible spending?
Probably because most NASA CFOs in the past haven’t rocked the boat. Indeed, most have been little more than book keepers. So he may have slipped under their radar. The Democrats are also probably thinking this will get them a Democrat Treasurer in Arizona in the next election.
Anybody looking at how DOD spends money like it’s water?
Cost cutting? More like typical ‘fiscal conservatism’. Make cuts so we can give rich people & businesses tax breaks.
I don’t care about what the DOD does. Actually most of government spends money like water, but then it’s not their money…
I want to see space developed which is why I care about how NASA spends. That is why I read NASA Watch and not DOD Watch 🙂
