NASA Advisory Council Regulatory and Policy Committee Meeting
“Date: Friday, November 16, 2018. In accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act, as amended, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announces the first meeting of the Regulatory and Policy Committee of the NASA Advisory Council. This Committee reports to the NAC.”
Well, this panel is going to move with glacial speed and will likely accomplish little of value – so its not as if any delays in announcing membership will have much impact one way or another. https://t.co/k6CCx3ZGpG

Guess the schedule delays that plague NASA’s hardware programs are now also occurring in non-hardware areas, an indication that the paper work monster is consuming the agency.
It isn’t (just) NASA. NASA Advisory Council members are subject to the Federal Advisory Committee Act and all the paperwork implied for new members. I think what’s new and specific to NASA is putting subcommittees under FACA requirements as well. At least that’s what happened to the science subcommittees about a year and a half ago.
I attended the meeting today at NASA HQ. It was an excellent discussion of many policy and regulatory barriers which are impeding commercial space development, especially of ISS and future LEO platforms. A great kickoff for a very talented team of people.
One special visitor, who sat and listened to the discussion, was Administrator Bridenstine. Congrats to all.
