Its amazing that NASA does not highlight more its contributions to agriculture. It was NASA research on farming for space settlements, when NASA was seriously studying space settlements, that stimulated the emergence of the vertical farming industry. This is what many folks fail to understand about making space settlement a NASA mission, the real value is not going to be in the form of resources from space, but innovations and IP, innovations like aeroponics that reduce the water plants need by 90%. The good thing about having a NASA Administrator from one of the “flyover” states is that he understands the importance of NASA to agriculture.
