House Space Republicans Reach A New Low
@RepDonBeyer This is the most absurd, obtuse, biased, and internally inconsistent thing that any member of Congress has ever sent to @NASA. The people who have signed off on this screed are clueless. It is scary to think that these people have any sort of oversight over #NASA. https://t.co/aezUOSziaJ

I remember a time when the country was trying to pull together rather than caring more about their side of an argument and political persuasion than the health of the country.
To help fix this, vote Democrat for every office in every election.
Don’t give the GOP any ideas (or a challenge) because every day could be a new low.
Standard operating procedure – make up something that doesn’t exist, then act outraged about it. It would seem to be a variant of the straw man fallacy.
Here’s the request for volunteers. It appears that they are asking all civilian federal employees if they want to help deal with the influx of unaccompanied migrant children.
I do wonder, is there precedent for such a request outside wartime? I can only imagine the uproar if the previous administration had asked for volunteers to build the border wall. I have to say I think there are valid questions here.
What planet are you from? When natural disasters strike memos routinely go out to employees to ask that they volunteer.
This is a man-made disaster. NASA should be NASA.
Quite right; I agree 100% with your comment. NASA is NASA not the Red Cross, the Peace Corps, or the National Guard and shouldn’t be drawn into politically caused disasters. The only aliens NASA should officially be engaged with are the kind from other planets. Of course, what NASA employees do on their own time is another matter entirely.
You have never been a civil servant (apparently). When I was I can recall many times when I got memos addressed to all American civil servants. During the first gulf war I got quite a few. During natural disasters this is also common. NASA civil servants are no different than other civil servants. No one asked anyone to be the Red Cross or the Peace Corps. Chill the rhetoric.
Ah, I did not know that, thanks. I found this articleabout similar efforts after the hurricanes in 2017.
I still think it’s worth asking questions, since this emergency has an intrinsically political component. But I appreciate you letting me discuss it even though it appears we disagree =).
I just don’t understand what everyone here is fussing about. Seriously. This is a public service, after all, by folks willing year after year to expose lies and dirty dealing.
Want an example? Without these selfless citizens being willing to put in the time and effort, we’d never have known about the child porno ring in the pizza store, for instance. And every time they go public, we learn just a bit more about just who these guys are, and what motivates them. What a country!
I say ‘Hats off!’ and thanks for the hard work.
Edit: my decision as a young man decades ago to forego a career as a writer of incisive satire was clearly the correct one.
Well, *I* thought it was funny. 😀
