Splitting The Worm Logo On SLS

Keith's note: Typical NASA. They make a big deal about bringing back the worm logo and then put a monstrous version of it on the SLS. And then they cover it up with a wire tray full of cables. You'd think that they could have put the logo somewhere where it would not be covered up. But this is NASA, right? There'd need to be a change request presented to a control board, a cost and schedule impact, etc. etc. It was easier to just split the worm logo and hope that none of the hundreds of millions of people watching the launch would notice. One would assume a cover would be put over the tray and then the logo re-painted. We'll see. Why not ask PAO? Because they no longer answer questions when you ask them. Larger image.

FWIW I used to work at the Rockwell Downey facility where Space Shuttles were built in the early 1980s. It was a vast facility - a former WWII airfield. I regularly walked from Building 1 to Building 303 across the tarmac. One day I saw a crew out there re-painting the traffic control markings that had faded over the years. The next week another crew paved over the exact same area that had just been re-painted. Then they repainted the new lane markings the following week. Just sayin'
