I certainly hope that the non-Russian ISS partners are carefully considering their options, including ISS ops after a separation from the Russian modules – and yes, I do understand that this would require replacement of the thruster capability currently provided by the Russian segment. This would obviously require quite a short term funding spike – Maybe the smart move is simply making the decision that the Russian move to war makes it time to begin the transition away from ISS and over to the next generation of LEO research platforms. I personally am sick of pretending that Russia deserves a place at the grownups table. It would be a truly sad coda to what had been the most visible example of international space cooperation so far, but I don’t see how we continue this partnership with them.

If the Russians leave ISS its because they have a place to go and that place is China.

Thank you Keith for keeping NASA watch such a valuable asset for the common population, and keeping NASA honest in its communications. Much appreciated.
