NASA Watch Support Page
Welcome to an upgraded NASA Watch. Besides sporting a new design, minimalist in it's look, there are several new features.
Most notably we have a new registration system. We no longer allow anonymous postings. If you want to comment you have to register. However that doesn't mean you can't be anonymous to our readers. If you don't want people to know who you are just pick an obscure user name. You control what information is displayed with your posts.
You'll find that each article now has Print and Share functions. The Share functions are provide by ShareThis an excellent service for sharing content with colleagues and friends.
Inevitably with all upgrades there are sometimes issues. If you a registration or login issue then please post a comment here. If you're looking for a solution to a particular problem you might find it here.
You can always email us issues at srmtadmin@spaceref.com. We'll try to get back to you in a timely fashion.
You can also sign in using an OpenID, TypePad, Vox, Yahoo or Google account or the native SpaceRef Network login.

Registration FAQ
- I registered but didn't get the confirmation email, help me?
First of all did you check your spam folder? The email will have come from this address: srmtadmin@spaceref.com. Also note that you should receive an email from us almost immediately. The subject line of the email will be "SpaceRef Network Account Confirmation".
You can also have the confirmation email resent to you. Go to the sign in page and enter your username and password then select the option to have the email resent to you.
Login and Commenting FAQ
- I've confirmed my registration but when I try to sign in to comment the comment box disappears and I'm asked to sign in again, why is that?
This is an issue with your web browser Cookies. Because NASA Watch uses the SpaceRef Network authentication it can require explicit Cookies exceptions to be set.
Windows Internet Explorer 7 or 8 Users: Go to Tools ==> Internet Options ==> Privacy ==> Sites (button) then allow spaceref.net and nasawatch.com
Windows Firefox Users: Go to Tools ==> Options ==> Privacy ==> Use custom settings (menu) ==> Exceptions (button) then allow spaceref.net and nasawatch.com
Mac Firefox Users: Firefox ==> Preferences ==> Privacy ==> Use custom settings (menu) ==> Exceptions (button) then allow spaceref.net and nasawatch.com
- Which SpaceRef sites can I use my login username with?
Currently you can log into NASA Watch, SpaceRef Canada, the Space Elevator Reference and the personal blog of Marc Boucher with the username you created. As well you can log into any of those sites using an OpenID, TypePad, Yahoo or Google account. Other SpaceRef sites will be available once they have been upgraded. We'll keep you posted.
I think I have solved my problem.
I have been unable to log in or submit comments, no matter how many times I tried. The Comments window would appear for an instant and then disappear.
Just now I tried enabling 3rd party cookies - an option in IE7 and Firefox 3.5. That seemed to fix the problem.
An alternative that also seems to work is explicitly allowing cookies from nasawatch.com and spaceref.net.
In IE7, go to Tools ==> Internet Options ==> Privacy ==> Sites (button).
In Firefox, it's Tools ==> Options ==> Privacy ==> Use custom settings (menu) ==> Exceptions (button).
I'm about to try it on my computer at work.
It also works inside the company.
Sorry in advance, boss! ;-)
ON Craig Ferguson's late night talk show last night astronaut Mike Massimino had an interesting interview.. I thought it very curious his reaction to the question " What happens after the shuttle program ends?" it was apparent to me he didn't seem very happy with the current situation concerning HSF.
Here's the ten minute interview.

I thought maybe you should post it because Most of your subscribers would want to see it.
Maybe Name the Article " An Astronauts opinion "
feature request: alias user names. I sign in using OpenID and feel a bit uncomfortable with my whole link being used in every posts header.

You may be aware of this but just in case in are not.
When I signed in using my Yahoo account Yahoo displayed this warning:
Warning: This website does not meet Yahoo!'s requirements for website address. Do not share any personal information with this website unless you are certain that it is legitimate.
I suggest you add this to your FAQ on the support page and any similar messages that OpenID, TypePad or Google account access may give so potential users are aware of it.
