Their two-hour special live broadcast on NASA TV this afternoon was really well done. A little bit of “advertising” of current programs mixed in as expected from the title “NASA’s Giant Leaps: Past and Future” but it covered quite a bit of ground both figuratively and literally as it was broadcast live from multiple locations, mainly KSC, JSC, NASM and the Mall, and with segments from Marshall, the Seattle Museum of Flight, and the Armstrong museum in Ohio. There were interviews with Collins, Schmitt, Stafford, Duke and Cunningham in the three main locations. That’s a good representation when you think about it, the first Apollo flight, first Moon landing, last Moon landing, last Apollo flight. And Duke besides representing Apollo 16 also represented Apollo 11 as he joined Gene Kranz for an interview at the flight director’s console in the Apollo mission control room.
It will be replayed on NASA TV tonight at 8:30 pm EDT and Saturday at 8:00 am and 10:00 am. and also can be watched on YouTube just search for the title.
