A Ph.D. in Geosciences along with field research experience in the Antarctic. I wonder what Democrats will find to oppose him.
I’ll imagine they might find something just as Republicans would find something if the President were a Democrat.
From the Wikipedia article on him, “From 1980 to the time he was selected for the astronaut program, Reilly was employed as an oil and gas exploration geologist…” Oil prospecting and working for the petroleum industry? Seriously, if you really want to, it doesn’t take much work to make someone look bad. It doesn’t even require making things up. Just finding a few details and putting the right (well, wrong) spin on them.
Yes, how evil, working for private enterprise 🙂
Well maybe they won’t oppose him. Was he continuously suing the agency in a previous job? Did he say in the past he didn’t think the agency he is now to head shouldn’t exist?
Having been Jim’s friend for nearly 50 years I can say from long term observation and experience that you couldn’t find a better candidate for public service nor a more dedicated, intelligent and focused professional. I believe USGS will only prosper under his leadership. Not biased, I just know the man.
Captain Janeway, speaking to B’Ellana as the half-Klingon stands up for Mr. Neelix to the Captain, with the passion that only she can bring:
“He’s lucky to have a friend like you, B’Ellana”.
(Is there anyone who doesn’t love B’Ellanna?)
This is still the very same administration that put the wife of the owner of a collection agency in charge of the Department of Education, a person with a degree in “meats” in charge of the Department of Energy, a decidedly anti-environmental activist in charge of the EPA, and numerous people who were opposed to various issues in charge of agencies whose whole purpose is to support those issues. So PLEASE excuse me for being very skeptical about this nomination!
That said, it appears that this just might be a good nomination.
