Its Hurry Up And Wait For the National Space Council Users Advisory Group

Keith’s note: The following was just sent by NASA HQ to “National Space Council (NSpC) Users’ Advisory Group (UAG) members (2020-2022)”

“All, apologies for the radio silence for so long. Just as all of you appointed members, we civil servants are also subject to the evolving plans and schedule of our Principals at the White House, and until now we did not have information that we were authorized to disseminate as transition activities were underway. That said, our new Administration has spent substantive time & energy to formulate their plans and priorities for space sector activities in the coming years, including the Space Council and it’s associated UAG. I will disseminate more details as soon as we are approved to do so.

In the meantime, please disregard any automated messages that several of you are receiving to complete any NASA IT security training or to renew your 450 Financial Disclosure form, as our 2020-2022 membership has now elapsed for everyone previously appointed. The bottom line is that while we expect that a number of members will be asked to continue serving on a newly reconstituted UAG membership, we do not have a final list to process yet, and so I will be providing an update to everyone as soon as we get that information. In essence we will be starting “fresh” and will process the appropriate documentation for newly appointed members at that point. Thank you very much for your long service and patience as we continue pressing forward during these challenging times.”

The picture above is online at NASA from 8 June 2020 and shows the UAG as it was at that point.

Biden clearly does not have a plan. I don’t think NASA knows where it is going; NASA will consider it a major achievement if they just get SLS off the launch pad. I am not sure the space council is any closer touch to what is going on than NASA or Biden.
