Obama announces new, leaner military approach, Washington Post
“The downsizing of the Pentagon, prompted by the country’s dire fiscal problems, means that the military will depend more on coalitions with allies and avoid the large-scale counterinsurgency and nation-building operations that have marked the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
Boeing to close Wichita plant, cites defense cuts, Reuters
“Boeing Co said it would close a plant in Wichita by the end of 2013 that employs more than 2,160 workers maintaining and converting planes for the military, part of a move to cut costs as the U. S. defense budget tightens.”

The 2013 budget is going to be a blood bath…  We warned of it… and now the chickens are coming home to roost.

T-Partiers are always so gleeful about suffering and denial; pity they aren’t constructive in their ideology or their gifts to our country.

NASA’s best chances are to; see tax revenues returned to pre-Bush rates, playing of the “China Dominant in Space” fear card, and/or progressive movement on the part of the electorate.

Whatever happens, NASA won’t be sleeping with the chickens.

Were it me I’d start NASA’s budget request at $22B and get the space job done and move this country and it’s economy back into making progress.

I’d start America’s NASA budget request at $22B and get these jobs done.  I’d pay for it by returning tax rates to Pre-Bush era, tax the wealthy as per Warren Buffet, and raise corporate tax rates.

Progressives attitudes, rebuilding America, are what this country needs, not T-Party promises of world-wide surrender, denial, and suffering.
