I think Ladwig is a political appointee-is he “retiring” or did someone decide he needed to be replaced or his salary eliminated?

(sigh) I have known Alan for nearly 40 years. He is retiring. He is not being “eliminated”. Indeed, NASA will have a hard time replacing him.

If you had a problem with HQ PAO, you could go to him and get it resolved. Super nice guy and a good leader. It will be hard filling his shoes.

I had the opportunity some years ago getting his assistance on an exhibit we were working on at the museum I worked at. Super nice guy and it will be hard to fill his shoes. Hope he enjoys his retirement.

Right now, a NASA civil Servant “just got their wings.” I will accept the premise by all here that Mr. Ladwig was excellent in his post. With his departure, sequester will impact one less civil servant come new budget year. Now, a mediocre civil servant will not lose his job. Gotta love how this works.

      Brian –

First of all, thanks to Keith for his nice comments.

Between my time in the Army and three tours at NASA, I have plenty of time to retire. I am leaving on my own terms.
