What we really need is a genuine “non-porkian” space policy – where the merits of getting a cost effective launch vehicle to the pad and put into action trumps paying 1,000x to old cronies who’ll take 20 years to not get one there … because of all the K street lobbyists and people like Griffin.

Both parties fail at this. Griffin should just shut his pie hole.

Space policy vision: Grow the U.S economic sphere of influence beyond GEO with affordable access to cis-Lunar space and open up the solar system to settlement by Americans.

    God help us all….

Non partisan in this instance means don’t mess with my SLS…

They are running scared. Because they have a Dragon on their tail.

The Dragon overtook them a while ago. They are chasing a Dragon without having a ride. This will not end well for them…

Hopefully the proposed policies will not also be backward in time.

    Dr. Griffin,

How about some Space Act Agreements, fully funding CCDev, and a completion for SHLV (if we really need one).

Dr. Griffin is now lobbying for funding for the ATK Liberty, which will also need the entire VAB, crawlers, and MLP, presumably to be provided gratis by the taxpayers.
Here’s his sketch of the Max Launch Abort System. Doesn’t seem quite engineering quality to me, particularly since both SpaceX and Boeing have gone for liquid-fueled LAS and the SpaceX concept can be used for landing as well.

At least he’s not taking credit for a program he tried to kill – O’s policy statement actually takes credit for Orion and SLS (salvaging “the best of Constellation”) and for creating jobs on the space coast!!! Oh and don’t forget – Griffin supported COTS and CCDev – as a supplement and eventual replacement to LEO, not as an immediate and sole replacement to NASA activities…
