Col. Gregory H. Johnson Named CASIS Executive Director, CASIS
Today, Gregory H. Johnson, Colonel (Ret), was named executive director for the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) – the nonprofit entity selected by NASA to manage the utilization of the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory. Col. Johnson will assume his role effective September 1, 2013.

    Hire an astronaut. They can do anything. Or is that to curry favor with NASA.

    And not even a scientist astronaut at that! Have we not had enough examples of astronauts who cannot lead or manage? Boggles the mind.

      Ummm…didn’t we just had an associate administrator who made technical decisions without a technical degree………They are looking for a manager. Box will do the job, and do it right.

    He is familiar with the ISS having installed a major laboratory and a major experiment on his two Shuttle missions. What could be better; he
    has an MBA too. This appears to be a well thought-out decision.
