Kathy Lueders Is The New NASA HEOMD AA

Kathy Lueders Selected to Lead NASA’s Human Spaceflight Office
“NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine Friday selected Commercial Crew Program Manager Kathy Lueders to be the agency’s next associate administrator of the Human Exploration and Operations (HEO) Mission Directorate. Since 2014, Lueders has directed NASA’s efforts to send astronauts to space on private spacecraft, which culminated in the successful launch of Demo-2 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on May 30.”
Keith’s note: So much for the Mark Geyer stories I was being fed. I guess he finally said “no” enough times 😉
hopefully her experience working with commercial crew will help her to understand the innovation needed for the Lander companies to achieve the 2024 mission.
I’m sure that Jim Bridenstine is counting on it.
Guy knows what he is doing.
Good selection! Looks like another blow to the SLS/Orion gang…
Wonderful choice.
Excellent, inspired choice. And and with this selection Jim Bridenstine proves himself yet again to be the administrator NASA needed to put together a modernized leadership team. I hope should Biden win in November, he asks Bridenstine to stay on. Most of Trump’s Cabinet choices have been almost cynically destructive of their charge. Bridenstine is probably the most focused builder-administrator NASA’s had in my lifetime.
With Lueders, a commercial lander has a shot by 2024. Not a great one due to the merciless timeline to do it safely, but a shot.
Excellent choice! If Biden is elected the only two Trump people I hope he retains are Jim Bridenstine and Kathy Lueders.
Bridenstine is a political appointee. Lueders is a civil servant and her position does not directly depend on appointment by the administration.
