NASA People Like To Work at NASA
Best Places to Work Agency Rankings
“The index score is not a combined average of an agency’s category scores. It is calculated using a proprietary weighted formula that looks at responses to three different questions in the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey. The more the question predicts intent to remain, the higher the weighting.”
“1 National Aeronautics and Space Administration“
I wonder if there is a correlation between how hard folks work and much they want to stay.
No one should give much credence to the results of this survey. The survey is badly designed overall, and the particular questions used to compute the index score are not really very representative of the overall results.
Just a guess, but this is probably why people put up with all the various bureaucratic fumbling and foolishness documented on this site and others.
Simply put, if you’re truly into space exploration, NASA is the Big Leagues. Others may rival it someday, but for now it’s truly the Mother Ship (to mix a few metaphors).
Having had a couple of semesters of qualitative analysis back in grad school (in a galaxy far, far away), I’d have to point out that this data has very little meaning.
On the other hand it’s good to be the Big Dog.
What in those couple semesters leads you to believe that? Is the sample size across agencies too small? Selection bias in those that choose to participate in surveys?
Open ended questions, for one; and a cursory examination of the ranking data would lead anyone to believe that the separation values are likely not significant.
On the other hand, actually running the appropriate tests? Oh, 30 years ago…
So the test sucks. EVERYONE TOOK THE SAME TEST. It has been like 3 years in a row. I mean a bad test would generate more of a random result. Hey NASA employees, next time do not do the test because it is a bad test.
