Good for NASA. What I’ve seen of the trailers for Life seems pretty mediocre.
The vast majority of “Alien” movies put out by Hollywood fall into three categories:
1. Big Alien Invasion
2. Alien Loose On a Spaceship
3. Alien is a Body Snatcher/The Thing wannabe.
Life is pretty solidly #2, from what I’ve seen of the trailers and descriptions. Maybe the execution of it will be good, though.
To be fair, your second category also includes a movie which is arguably one of the best science fiction movies around, and featured what I consider the most memorable science fiction character (Ellen Ripley.) I guess someone might also call it the original “face-eating alien” movie.
I agree. In fact, I was originally going to label the three categories “Wars of the Worlds”, “Alien”, and “The Thing”. All good fiction in their own right.
