Keith’s note: Sources report that the membership of the National Space Council’s User’s Advisory Group (UAG) may be announced on Tuesday – or possibly Wednesday at the NSPC meeting. The UAG is larger than a lot of people wanted – partially as the result of many factions wanting to have their person representing their interests. I have been able to confirm a subset of the UAG membership thus far from multiple sources: Homer Hickam, Jeff Manber, Pam Melroy, Gwynne Shotwell, and Pete Worden. Note: 2 sources confirm Manber, another says he’s not a member. I will add more names as I confirm them and correct any errors as they arise.

  1. It’s really a continuing sign of the narcissism and greed of
    this culture that choices are made based on “factions wanting to have
    their person representing their interests” and not directly based on merit
    sans partisanship. It is no wonder things continue to happen the way they do, across all aspects of society. Just sad for our species.

    1. Welcome to the world of politics, which is what space policy is. That said they are looking to be a very interesting group, not your usually gang of beltway experts as on the various presidential space commissions over the years. They might, just might, have a chance of moving the ball down the field.

      That said I could see the SLS/Orion/ISS supporters being worried, very worried…

      It is good they have someone from the FAA CST office on the group.

  2. Keith I did you apply? I think you would make a great rational addition as a member! you have a way of keeping them honest I can hear the politician saying “there’s a polecat in the hen house”
