Tony Schoenfelder Funeral Details

A memorial service for Tony Schoenfelder will be held this Saturday, October 2, 2004, at 11 AM at the Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, Virginia.

The address of the funeral home is:

201 Edwards Ferry Road, NE
Leesburg, VA 20176
(703) 777-1414

It is located just east of the intersection of Route 7 (business district designation: Market St.), which runs east-to-west, and Route 15 (business district designation: King St.), which runs north-to-south. This is in the "old town" section of Leesburg. Although I am not familiar with the area, I understand it is also very close to a recently constructed county administration building. Maps are available at:

Editor's note: I just learned that Tony Schoenfelder from NASA HQ died this morning. I will post additional details as I get them. I knew Tony from our days at SSFPO in Reston - he was truly a gentle soul.

The Idyllic Workplace, ASK, Tony Schoenfelder

"... what if you could work in an organization in which there was little hierarchy, where rank and seniority played no part, where there were no closed meetings or doors, where everyone knows what was expected of them, and where creativity was not only tolerated but encouraged and celebrated? Was there ever such a place?"

Note from Tony's management

Colleagues: It is with a mixture of shock and deep sadness that I pass along the following news. Tony Schoenfelder of the Business Management Division passed away this morning. Tony was deeply dedicated to the missions of NASA and was one of the most knowledgeable Program Analysts in the Agency. Prior to working at NASA, Tony acquired a wealth of experience in other professions; he also served as a medic during the Vietnam war. I knew Tony for over 20 years, and he brought to the job a mixture of intellect and humor that will be deeply missed.
