Rochester man dies in car-pedestrian accident – Police say victim is Eileen Collins’ father, Star-Gazette

“The man has been identified as 79-year-old James E. Collins of Rochester, father of space shuttle commander Eileen Collins. Jim Collins was in Elmira on Monday to hear his daughter speak at Edison and Notre Dame high schools. He spoke to a Star-Gazette reporter about his daughter’s accomplishments on Monday after hearing her speak at Notre Dame. “I’m in awe of her,” he said. “I really am.”
