Looking Down At The Last Apollo Landing Site

LRO Image of Apollo 17 Landing Site

"LRO maneuvered into its 50-km mapping orbit on September 15. The next pass over the Apollo 17 landing site resulted in images with more than two times better resolution than previously acquired. At the time of this recent overflight the Sun was high in the sky (28° incidence angle) helping to bring out subtle differences in surface brightness."

Pretty cool. Wonder how far out of the picture the lunar rover is? By the last few landings they got pretty good at televising the lunar liftoffs from the camera mounted on the rovers. It was mesmerizing watching their lunar jaunts and the liftoffs live and thinking, 'Wow, this is happening on the MOON!'.

Yeah, a lot more exciting than going around in LEO.

Well comparing the previous LROC photos of the Apollo 17 sites with this one the resolution is better but in the first A17 landing site release ( knowing where the LRV is in this one) you can actually see the LRV shadow that was cast. Is it possible for them to get a picture from a better angle than right over head like 15'-30' or something? I understand reorienting the probe is no easy task so I don't think that will happen but it would be neat.Like the angle of the HD movies kayuga gave us at this resolution would be freaking incredible.
