Association of Space Explorers: “We are very sad to pass along the news that former astronaut Don Williams has passed away. Fair skies and following seas, Cap’n.”

“Born February 13, 1942, in Lafayette, Indiana. Died on February 23, 2016. He is survived by his wife and two children. He enjoyed all sports activities and his interests included running and photography.”

    I had the opportunity and pleasure of working for Don in his post-astronaut career at SAIC. A great guy and I learned a great deal from him. He hired me shortly before Christmas in Dec 1994. Realizing that my wife and I knew absolutely no one in Houston at that point, he drove over to my hotel on Christmas day and took us over to his house to enjoy Christmas with his family. God Speed Don.
