Maybe NASA should starting conforming to the rest of society when naming jobs instead of acting like it’s doing something radically different. Technically their job is ensuring proper biological quarantine procedures are followed, something the USDA has done for over a century for plants and animals from Earth coming to the U.S. So instead of calling it planetary protection maybe they should just call it the Planetary Quarantine Office since they are doing basically the same job for the same reasons, just on an interplanetary scale.
