Cool! I look forward to the first launch!
While both are all smiles in the photos, I wonder what Elon Musk and Rick Perry really think of each other.
Ole’ Rick “Gravel Road” Perry knows what business wants .. that is why he told Tesla they couldn’t sell their cars in Texas unless they went through traditional dealerships.
That law has been on the books for over 30 years. Democrats passed it.
Then it must have been overturned the first time a republican gov. house and senate took control?
Wonder how the average launch weather is there? Better than, worse than or about the same as Cape Canaveral, FL?
Better. no body of water to the west
Those of us in Florida- especially the west coast- better learn to duck…
Launch those Falcon Heavies, Habitat modules, propulsion stages and Dragon 2’s in salvos, Elon – that’s how you’ll get to Mars!! 😉
SpaceX will be doing a lot of business in Texas. It won’t be long before their manufacturing facilities are moved there. SpaceX’s massive next generation rockets won’t be able to fit in the rail tunnels going through the Rockies, and will be built close to the launch site.
Since when does SpaceX ship anything by rail? I think you may be confusing them with the Russian vehicles, which are diameter limited by rail transport.
SpaceX transports all their stages by truck, so it is highway limitations that are in play.

Otherwise you are correct, a BFR core won’t be road transportable either.
Thanks. I didn’t know that the Falcon 9 was transported by truck. That’s pretty cool.
Looking at Google maps, the launch site is 5 miles from a ship channel and about 15 or 20 miles from the Brownsville ship harbor on that shipping channel. The launch site could probably receive large boosters via barge and a short truck ride.
