Keith’s note: Per my earlier post about the whole topic of harassment as it is being discussed at the American Astronomical Society Meeting. This is how astronomers respond (Click below). In this case Jeffrey Silverman, a member of the faculty at the University of Texas Austin. I’m not sure I take the AAS membership that seriously any more. They complain (rightfully so) about something and then their members negate whatever point was trying to surface. And then the guy who commented earlier injected race into the whole conversation. Their members exhibit the same behavior that they profess to reject.

There are people out there who think that white people are as pure as the driven snow, and people of color are evil or stupid or out to do them harm or collect welfare. This is the pathology of racism. It is good that you don’t understand it, it means you are not a racist, as it makes no logical sense.
He’s sarcastically implying Keith is a privileged white male with little appreciation for harassment of minorities.
I’m not sure what this guy is implying except that he’s wrong.

I dont get the whole I am an adult I can talk however I want argument, I find it very unprofessional and unintelligent to use profanity in any setting much less in the workplace.
It has nothing to do with sensibilities
