“The Trump administration has recently removed the chief scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the nation’s premier scientific agency, installed new political staff who have questioned accepted facts about climate change and imposed stricter controls on communications at the agency. The moves threaten to stifle a major source of objective United States government information about climate change that underpins federal rules on greenhouse gas emissions and offer an indication of the direction the agency will take if President Trump wins re-election. An early sign of the shift came last month, when Erik Noble, a former White House policy adviser who had just been appointed NOAA’s chief of staff, removed Craig McLean, the agency’s acting chief scientist.”

Thank you for your service.” In McLean’s stead, Noble hired Ryan Maue, a former researcher for a libertarian think tank. Elections have consequences.
In this case very bad consequences.
I wish I could be hopeful this sort of thing will soon stop, but one candidate has spent the last 4 years inoculating his base and other supporters against science, be that science climatology, virology, or any number of other sciences.
So close to the election. Now that’s just spite.
I have been reading up on this and it is interesting. Craig McLean is a marine lawyer and administrator, and has been replaced by a Meteorologist…….I would be interested to listen to the objections ( based on knowledge of the subject).
NYT already has had to update the story to show Mr. Mclean is still working for NOAA, in the department he has always been in.
Seems clearly more like how a new boss in his right mind should approach a clear case of narcissism.
Remove fast, sharp, clear, and with no any regrets.
The only working solution or remedy for narcissism, sociopathy or the worse, psychopathy… in a work place or a business of any kind.
In such cases the rest makes no difference or has no any value whatsoever really, either in opinion or propaganda.
