CEV Announcement(s) Today
“NASA today announced the selection of Lockheed Martin Corp. and the team of Northrop Grumman Corp. and The Boeing Co. that will lead to an award to build the agency’s Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV). The selection is part of NASA’s plan to have two contractors compete in the design and production process for the Space Shuttle’s replacement.”
Editor’s update: LockheedMartin’s team has won something – but it seems NASA has put the final selection of a single contractor off until early next year.
Editor’s original note: NASA is expected to make at least one contract announcement with regard to the CEV procurement this afternoon. Stay tuned.
“We’re expecting to get notification from NASA even possibly today on whether we are going to be selected to be in the final two competitors,” said Jim Albaugh, president of Boeing’s integrated defense systems unit, at the air show.”
