Keith’s note: I give up. When female space youtubers like Eliana Sheriff @esherifftv go out of their way to mock a mission with women going into space – comparing them to chimpanzees – why should the rest of us even bother trying to knock down all the space misogyny. The presentation and manner was not done well, it opened up many opportunities for critics of these sub-orbital flights.

I have not followed many of these sub-orbital flights, but like “Dancing With The Stars” it gives exposure for older “stars.” Example is after Wally Funk’s flight, I found this interesting oral history interview by Carol Butler for the NASA History Office in 1999. Wally discusses the kind of training for pilots back in the days with the existing technologies, her work as a NTSB investigator, and her childhood experiences of outdoor life which many children no longer do.
