NASA And NOAA Skipping CEOS Meeting
Keith’s note: Sources report that NASA has ordered key agency personnel not to participate in the upcoming meeting of the Committee on Earth Observations Satellites (CEOS). This includes a ban on remote dial-in as well. NOAA personnel will also reportedly be absent from participating. According to the CEOS: “Over the past three decades, CEOS has significantly contributed to the advancement of space-based Earth observation community efforts. CEOS Agencies communicate, collaborate, and exchange information on Earth observation activities, spurring useful partnerships such as the Integrated Global Observing Strategy (IGOS).” This no-show by NASA and NOAA is especially troubling given that NASA and NOAA are among the largest provides of Earth satellite observations crucial for weather forecasting and Earth science research.
