Is NASA Losing The Space Memes Race?

Keith’s note: I am posting this piece by Fredrik Jonsson (video link below) as an example of what millions of people can now do with tools on their personal computers. At once realistic and fictitious – and yet sublime and majestic – these tools now allow one’s imagination to go wild. What is often lacking is a strong narrative – a message. Instead we get vibes and memes.
NASA excels at providing imagery of its activities from here on Earth and billions of light years away. Alas, people now question whether a lot of NASA’s eye candy is fake since they can do that too at home. NASA needs to rethink and reboot the way it approaches this digital-capable population domestically and globally so as to make certain that people know what is real space exploration – and what its not. But not stomp on what could become real.
NASA needs to embrace these ubiquitous self-made visual dreams of things to come since they invariably inspire people to go make them happen. Together, these things can be used as tools – guides – to help our world realize and the focus their dreams into actual feats of exploration. Ad Astra y’all.
