New for media but not for employees; they went to “all hands Q&A” sessions a long time ago in which questions needed to be submitted well in advance for review. During COVID since so many are joining on-line you can submit your questions in ‘chat’ but they are reviewed before they decide which to answer.

Exactly. Which is why news media are not happy to see media briefings without the standard interaction that we’ve had for decades.

Complain to the Whitehouse, NASA is not being transparent with the press. The question and answer activity should be free form without edit or moderation

Not sure complaints will get much traction at the Whitehouse since Biden doesn’t always answer questions at his press conferences and when he does, they’re pre-selected.

The whitehouse press briefings are wide open for questions via Jen Psaki. The DOD and State Department are also wide open. Why NASA is such a stick in the mud is beyond me. Maybe it just this conference and not a NASA mission it is a NOAA spacecraft.
