Keith’s note: some good news out of NASA JSC, NASA GSFC, and NASA MSFC. Sources report that probationary employees at these centers have been exempted from being fired. I also heard that ARC was going to fire up to 50 employees. Unsure of how many people this good news covers – but every job saved is of value to NASA and to the employee’s family.

That is good news. NASA hired a bunch of contractors recently, ‘flipping’ their badges from contractor to CS. In a presentation yesterday the Legal office said it was illegal for NASA employees to quit and be hired as a contractor to do the same job, especially illegal if they were being paid by NASA under administrative leave and at the same time be paid by a contractor for doing the same work.
Over the last 22+ years, I have seen where a CS will retire, and be back as a contractor within weeks, or even just days. Though not working on the same project they left.
Sounds like there are some big plans for HQ, GSFC, JSC, and MSFC. 🙂
