Keith’s note: according to NASA: NASA Team, I am pleased to announce that I have selected Amit Kshatriya as our new Associate Administrator, the agency’s top civil service position, effective immediately. This permanent appointment reflects our commitment to putting exploration at the very heart of NASA’s mission and ensuring we have proven leadership to guide us forward.

Many of you know Amit from his distinguished 20-year career with our agency. Most recently, he served as deputy in charge of the Moon to Mars Program in the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ESDMD), where he has been instrumental in program planning and implementation for human missions to the Moon through Artemis and our future Mars endeavors.

Amit’s promotion to our senior leadership team underscores the critical importance of the Artemis Program to our agency’s future. His extensive experience and deep understanding of our exploration goals uniquely qualify him to lead NASA as we work to return Americans to the Moon and maintain our nation’s leadership in space exploration.

Throughout his career, Amit has demonstrated the knowledge, integrity, and unwavering commitment to exploration that defines the best of NASA. As one of only about 100 people in history to serve as a Mission Control Flight Director, he brings unparalleled operational and strategic experience to our executive leadership team.

This leadership change also signals our continued commitment to working closely with America’s commercial space sector. Under Amit’s guidance, we will strengthen these partnerships that are so vital to growing our space economy and ensuring American leadership in exploration.

I am confident that Amit will help us chart a bold vision for the future of NASA. Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible and advance American leadership in space.

I want to extend my sincerest gratitude for Vanessa Wyche’s service in this role in the interim. Please join me in congratulating Amit on this well-deserved appointment and in supporting him as he takes on this critical role.

Please join Amit and I for a live workforce address tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. ET, 8:30 a.m. PT for those at centers on the West coast. A livestream link is forthcoming.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our mission and to the future of space exploration.

Sincerely,
Sean Duffy
